This homemade pumpkin spice latte uses real pumpkin, pumpkin spice, maple syrup and plant-based milk to make a classic fall drink without all the sugar or the artificial ingredients.

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

If you’re like me, you love the comforting flavor of a pumpkin spice latte. And if I have to guess, you’re probably not a fan of all the sugar and unnecessary ingredients that come with store-bought versions. So I created my own version. This homemade pumpkin spice latte is on repeat at my house throughout fall. Once you try it, I’m sure you’ll be hooked too.

This pumpkin spice latte recipe gives you all the creamy, warm pumpkin spice goodness you crave, but without the sugar overload or the artificial ingredients. Plus, it actually contains real pumpkin, which is always a win in my book. While some coffee shops have improved their ingredients, nothing beats making your own at home. It’s better for your body and your wallet! Make a big batch of the homemade pumpkin spice syrup ahead of time and you’ll have your favorite fall drink ready to go all week long.

Why I Recommend Caffeine After Breakfast

I always recommend having caffeine after breakfast, rather than on an empty stomach. Here’s why: When you consume caffeine on an empty stomach, it can cause a spike in cortisol levels—our stress hormone. This can lead to increased stress and anxiety, disrupt your blood sugar balance, and even contribute to hormonal imbalances.

Symptoms like jitteriness, a sudden energy crash, or even digestive discomfort might indicate that your body isn’t responding well to caffeine on an empty stomach. By having a balanced breakfast first, with a good mix of protein, healthy fats, and fiber, you can help stabilize your blood sugar. This also gives your body the nourishment it needs to handle the caffeine boost more effectively, keeping your hormones and stress levels in check. So enjoy some breakfast before (or at least along side!) enjoying this pumpkin spice latte to give your body the nourishment it needs to thrive.

Heat the milk, pumpkin purée, pumpkin spice, and maple syrup on the stove until it starts to simmer.
Add the warm liquid to a blender with the coffee or Teeccino.

Blend for one minute until frothy. You can also combine the ingredients in the pan you heated the milk in and use a handheld frother.
