DAIRY-FREE VANILLA PROTEIN ICE CREAM // The creamiest way to get dairy-free ice cream in the ninja cream. Basically my protein shake with some added gut-friendly ingredients that also make it extra creamy. Does it taste exactly like the real deal, no. It’s it delicious and highly satisfying, yes. Do I love it, 100%.

While this is dairy free, you could use milk and yogurt and I’m sure it would be even creamier and higher protein.

12 oz full-fat almond milk (like Malk or Organic Califia)
1 scoop vanilla protein (use one you love because this is the main flavor!! I use Truvani but a whey protein would work great too)
1/3 cup coconut yogurt (I use Harmless Harvest)
8g (2 tsp) grass-fed gelatin (this is KEY!)

Add the gelatin to a small pan. Add 1/4 cup milk and let it bloom for about 2-3 minutes. Place on the stove to let it melt. (I know it’s an extra step but this replaces guar gum or a pudding mix packet for creaminess!)

Blend milk, yogurt and protein. Pour into creami pint and freeze for 12-24 hours. Spin on lite ice cream. Add 2-4 tbsp more milk and re-spin TWICE. Add any mix-ins (i love raw cacao nibs!)

I am your biggest advocate when it comes to functional testing. But there’s the thing, if you don’t change the factors that are making you a hospitable host or impairing your digestion...nothing is going to change.

You can do all the testing in the world but it all comes back to the FOUNDATIONS.

When it comes to digestion, if you’re struggling with bloat after meals, try these tips:

- sit down to eat - no standing at the counter) this one is the hardest for me!), eating on the go, etc
- take 5 deep belly breaths before your meal (you want to calm your nervous system)
- chew your food *thoroughly* - until it’s applesauce consistency
- really try to eat without distractions - limit scrolling, working, multitasking
- you may also consider digestive enzymes, digestive bitters or ACV before a meal, especially lots of raw veggies!

If you’re still struggling, waking up bloated, or have other chronic digestive issues, or maybe worth exploring other causes:

- chronic stress
- gut dysbiosis
- low stomach acid
