Chronically high cortisol can whack your hormone health and show up in common (but not normal symptoms!!)

What are your symptoms telling you?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just plain exhausted, it might be a sign to check in on your cortisol levels and give your adrenals some love. (This is something I’m constantly working on, especially after having two babies!)

SIGNS OF HIGH CORTISOL:
- Feeling wired but tired (tired all day, but can’t fall asleep at night)
- Anxiety and irritability
- Sugar or carb cravings, especially mid-afternoon
- Midsection weight gain
- Digestive issues, like bloating or constipation
- Frequent headaches or tension
- Poor immune function, getting sick often
-Puffy face

HOW TO SUPPORT IT:
- Blood sugar balancing meals
- Stress management techniques like breathwork or meditation
- Reducing caffeine or timing it later in the morning
- Gentle exercise like walking instead of high-intensity workouts
- Magnesium-rich foods or supplementation
- Daily downtime for true rest and recovery

SIGNS OF LOW CORTISOL:
- Chronic fatigue or feeling like you can’t “wake up”
- Lightheadedness, especially when standing up quickly
- Cravings for salt
- Low blood pressure
- Feeling emotionally drained or apathetic
- Difficulty handling stress, easily overwhelmed
- Frequent infections or slow recovery from illness

HOW TO SUPPORT IT:
-️ Salty foods like sea salt in water for electrolyte balance
- Blood sugar balancing meals
-️ Gentle, nourishing foods (protein + complex carbs for steady energy)
-️ Slow morning routines and rest days from intense activities
- Adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha or licorice root (with guidance)
-️ Plenty of hydration, adding electrolytes if needed

And yes, you may experience symptoms of both. Low cortisol comes after having chronically high cortisol levels. If any of these symptoms sound like you, there are so many ways you can support your body but it’s best to work with a practitioner and get your cortisol levels tested — salivary cortisol testing s best (not a single blood draw!)

Mamas, are you doing this too? I feel like this is a parenting hack we all need to know about because it’s made our mornings 100x better.

Henry has been waking up “on the wrong side of the bed” for weeks. Like full blown tantrum mode a few minutes after waking. I finally realized he was waking up hungry and wanting to eat first thing.

I will never get over the fact that having kids le

I will never get over the fact that having kids let you relive some of your best childhood memories, but it’s 100% better 👻🍂🎃 I’m hoping they feel the same way I do in 30 years.

- a ghostbuster and a spooky squishy ghost
- pumpkin chili tradition
- semi-homemade mummy cookies
- trick or treating
- candy sorting (he did trade me 90% of the ones with food dyes with no push back)
- the cutest school party
- “who you gonna call…ghostbusters”

I’ll be navigating the Halloween candy with flexible approach. He gave up the straight sugar, dye filled candies for dye free options. The gets to keep the others and we’ll enjoy them as treats with or after lunch or dinner until the excitements over. He also knows about the switch which and keeps asking if she’ll come?! He’s very toy motivated soo I may try that this year. We’ll see. as much as I hate the ingredients in our candies and foods in general, I know from experience that complete restriction only backfires.
