Over the past few months I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this blog and the direction I want to go with it. For a long time I have been dreaming about establishing Nourished by Nutrition as a wellness resource that encompasses all the necessary components to living whole and balanced. But after toying with this idea, spending some time journaling, and just sitting with my thoughts, I’ve decided to hold off on that dream and look at this space as more of a recipe journal. I want this space to be a showcase of wholesome recipes that inspire others to eat with purpose and reconnect with food both in the kitchen and emotionally. That’s not to say aspects of nutrition and wellbeing will nonexistent on this space. My passion for nutrition and living whole is too great for those to disappear from this site. But for right now, my focus is on recipe creation and connection.
My plan is to develop a collection of plant-based recipe that are both nourishing for the body and mind. You’ll find mostly gluten-free, dairy-free recipes that are made with real food ingredients. While some may consider this “vegan”, I would prefer to avoid that label (and labels in general) because of the restriction, rules, and self-criticism that come along as heavy baggage when we begin to categorize ourselves under certain labels. After learning of my food sensitivities and becoming more in tune with how my body reacts with certain foods, most of the published recipes on Nourished by Nutrition are no longer part of my diet. There is nothing wrong with these recipes or their ingredients, but since I no longer connect with them, I will be doing a recipe overhaul and revamping those old recipes to be more in line with the way of eating I follow now.
In addition to the new recipes coming to Nourished by Nutrition in 2017, I am devoting myself to this space. I’m making it my goal to pour my heart into every recipe I share and the stories that go along with them. In order to be fully transparent and start to connect with you all, I am planning on sharing my story within the next few weeks. This was all inspired by Renee of Will Frolic for Food and her Real Diet Story. You can read more about her initiative and learn about other bloggers’ stories by searching #realdietstory on Instagram.
I hope as I begin to grow this space, I can connect with all of you on more of a personal level. I truly love being able to connect with others over food as well as helping others reconnect with food. Please feel free to shoot me an email or comment with any questions you may have. No judgments here, just lots of love, always.
