YOUR LIVER PROBABLY NEEDS SUPPORT // even though you have a functioning liver doesn’t mean it’s functioning optimally…

The body is amazing at filtering out toxins through various detoxification pathways…until it isn’t.

Unfortunately, modern living takes a toll on our ability to detoxify properly.

The liver is our body’s primary detoxification organ for excess hormones. Think of the liver as a giant filter. If the liver is overburdened with toxins, inflammation, infection, physical damage or other stressors, it can’t filter properly. There’s just too much to sort through. When this happens it makes it difficult for the body to efficiently regulate hormones.

HOW TO SUPPORT DETOXIFICATION
- Avoid alcohol (this is huge!)
- Reduce caffeine, refined sugar
- Incorporate liver-friendly foods daily such as dandelion tea, green tea, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, kale, mustard greens, beets, citrus, and garlic.
- Opt for filtered water to avoid hormone-disrupting chemicals such as chlorine and heavy metals
- Consider using castor oil packs on your liver
- Incorporate detoxification practices that stimulate lymphatic drainage - cold showers, dry brushing, gua sha, lymphatic massage, rebounding, jump roping and breathwork
- Choose non-toxic cleaning products (I like @branchbasics and @cymbiotika, and the EWG’s recommendations for products)

CASTOR OIL PACKS // they have been used for centuries for healing. Castor oil increase circulation, improves elimination and healing of tissues and detoxification. It helps with lymphatic drainage, which in turn helps improve digestion, boost immune function, and reduce swelling and inflammation. It also increase glutathione, the master antioxidant.

LIFE CHANGING SEED CRACKERS // will these solve all your hormone problems? No. Will they change your life? Quite possibly. Are they delicious, nutrient-packed and easy to make? Yes, yes and yes.

If you’re struggling with symptoms of hormone balance, especially estrogen dominance, incorporating flax and a variety of seeds can be incredibly beneficial.

Flax contain lignans, which helps with estrogen, detoxification and overall hormone balance. They’re also mucilaginous meaning they soak up a lot of water creating a gel. This is incredibly effective for helping digestion, which is another way to properly get rid of excess estrogen.

The variety of other seeds contain important, nutrients like zinc, magnesium, fats and protein which are needed for optimal hormone levels.

SEED CRACKERS
1 cup ground flax
1/4 cup chia
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup hemp seeds
2/3 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup boiling water

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 350F. Prepare two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine all your seeds, oats, and salt. Stir to mix evenly.
Pour the boiling water over the mixture and mix. Let the mixture soak about 5 minutes to absorb the water and bind together.
Split the mixture between two baking sheets. Spread the mixture into as thin and even a layer as possible. The thinner you are able to spread the mixture, the crunchier the crackers will be.
Bake for 50 minutes or until the crackers have completely dried out. After 25 minutes, turn the pans to ensure even baking.
Remove from the oven when lightly browned, firm, and the crackers are dry to the touch. Allow to cool completely on the pan before breaking into individual crackers.
Store in an airtight container on the counter for 2-3 weeks.
